Abstract

Daunorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic mainly used to treat various types of cancers, especially leukemias. It can be used to treat both acute and chronic leukemias. This activity will summarize the mechanism of action, adverse event profile, and other key factors (e.g., indications, contraindications, pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, monitoring, relevant interaction) pertinent to the use of daunorubicin, as well as important prescribing and management consideration by the healthcare team.
