Unexpanded umbilical cord-derived allogeneic CD34- hematopoietic stem cells is a preparation of unexpanded cord-derived allogeneic CD34-negative HSCs used as a component of a cell therapy for hematopoietic cancers in patients for whom other types of suitable donor cells are not available. Zemcelpro also contains dorocubicel, a preparation CD34+ HSCs derived from the same cord blood sample and expanded ex vivo using UM-171.

- Curator reviewed · 4 references
Zemcelpro comprises two ingredients: dorocubicel and unexpanded CD34- cells. The primary mechanism of action of dorocubicel involves the promotion of hematopoietic recovery and immune reconstitution through the activity of expanded CD34+ hematopoietic stem cells. The second component, unexpanded CD34- cells, primarily consisting of CD3+ T cells, complement this action by supporting immune reconstitution and providing graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effects post-transplantation.
Following transplantation, the hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells from Zemcelpro migrate to the bone marrow, where they divide, mature, and differentiate into all hematological cell lineages. The mature cells are then released into the bloodstream, circulating and migrating to tissue sites, partially or fully restoring blood counts and the function, including immune function, of blood-borne cells of marrow origin.
