Peptide YY (3-36), a synthetic human PYY 3-36, is a compound being evaluated for the treatment of obesity. It reduces appetite and increases satiety in obese patients.

Mechanism: PYY 3-36 acts via the presynaptic Y2 receptor in the ARC. It decreases neuropeptide Y (NPY) release from static hypothalamic explants and thus acts to decrease food intake.
