Anacaulase is a mix of proteolytic enzymes indicated for eschar removal in adults with deep partial thickness and/or full-thickness thermal burns. Anacaulase (anacaulase-bcdb) is a mixture of proteolytic enzymes extracted from the stems of pineapple plants (Ananas comosus [L.] Merr.).

The mechanism of action of anacaulase is not clear. The mixture of enzymes in anacaulase dissolves burn wound eschar; however, the components responsible for this effect have not been identified.
