Drug Drug Description Triamterene A potassium-sparing diuretic used in the treatment of edema and in the management of hypertension. Amiloride A pyrizine compound used to treat hypertension and congestive heart failure. Spironolactone An aldosterone receptor antagonist used for the treatment of hypertension, hyperaldosteronism, edema due to various conditions, hirsutism (off-label) and hypokalemia. Eplerenone An aldosterone receptor antagonist used to improve survival of patients with symptomatic heart failure and to reduce blood pressure. Canrenoic acid Canrenoic acid (as the salt potassium canrenoate) is an aldosterone antagonist. Like spironolactone, it is a prodrug, which is metabolized to canrenone in the body. Canrenone Canrenone has been used in trials studying the diagnostic of Heart Failure.
