Fludrocortisone is a mineralocorticoid used to treat adrenocortical insufficiency and salt-losing adrenogenital syndrome. Fludrocortisone is a synthetic mineralocorticoid used in conjunction with hydrocortisone to replace missing endogenous corticosteroids in patients with adrenal insufficiency.
