Drug Drug Description Ampicillin A penicillin derivative used for the treatment of a variety of infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria as well as some anaerobes. Carbenicillin For the treatment of acute and chronic infections of the upper and lower urinary tract and in asymptomatic bacteriuria due to susceptible strains of bacteria. Hetacillin Hetacillin is a beta-lactam antibiotic prodrug used to treat bacterial infections. In the body it gets converted to ampicillin. Mezlocillin Used to treat serious gram–negative infections of the lungs, urinary tract, and skin. Azlocillin For the treatment of infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Haemophilus influenzae. Amdinocillin Used in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by some strains of E. coli and klebsiella and enterobacter species. Used mainly against Gram negative organisms.
