It is used as an anesthesia adjunct to induce skeletal muscle relaxation and to reduce the intensity of muscle contractions... Metocurine iodide can be used most advantageously if muscle twitch response to peripheral nerve stimulation is monitored to assess degree of muscle relaxation.
